He goes further, tying the carving to a comet strike around 10,850 BC and the long cold snap that followed it. The excavators do not accept it, and they have said so in detail. The German Archaeological Institute's published response points out that the date the astronomical reading requires runs 700 to a 1,000 years earlier than the oldest radiocarbon date from enclosure D.
